Kwan Yin is known (throughout Asia) as the Goddess of mercy, compassion and forgiveness. Known as “Guan Yin” in China and “Kannon” in Japan, she is synonymous with “Avalokitesvara” in Mahayana Buddhism.
She is an Ascended Master and a Bodhisattva, which is a being who has attained enlightenment (moksha) but has chosen to remain on Earth till all sentient beings complete their own ascension. Just as she was about to enter the heaven’s gate, she paused at the doorway and on hearing the cries of the world decided to stay back to help humankind find the right path.
A great protector and benefactor, her heart is full of deep compassion and unconditional love; her energy is like a Divine Mother. She instantly comes to soothe anyone who calls out to her. Be it family, career, health or relationships, no concern, trouble or worry is too big for the motherly and all-powerful energy of Kwan Yin.
Gentle and nurturing, she represents the Divine Feminine – the same energy as Shakti, Tara, Mother Mary, Isis. She is known to have a special place in her heart for children. Her energy is akin to what a mother feels for her child—fiercely loving and protective. Which is why she is especially called upon by expectant mothers to preside over pregnancy as well as safe and easy delivery of their babies.
Kwan Yin’s symbol is the lotus. Lord Gautama Buddha was her master. One of her mantras is ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’, which literally means ‘The Jewel in the Lotus’. A powerful and pure phrase, it encompasses all the teachings of the Buddha.
As the spokesperson for the Spiritual Hierarchy, she brought the sacred gift of Magnified Healing® to our planet.
